Tilly's Rest

How To's & House Rules

The composting toilet is very simple to use and surprisingly less smelly than a conventional toilet thanks to the fan that is always on and blows the smell up out of the waste vent located at the rear of the home.

To use, simply:

  1. Do your business
  2. Wipe using the provided toilet paper
  3. For poos only - throw in 1 cup of hemp shavings only that are provided in the grey buckets in front of the toilet.
Note: Hemp shavings not required for wee’s.
  4. Use the spray bottle labelled “Natural flush enzymes” only to spray skid marks off the bowl and use toilet brush.
  5. Shut toilet lid and walk away!

Note: Please don’t use great amounts of water to clean the toilet bowl as this will mess up the biological ecosystem needed to turn your waste into garden mulch.

Before having a shower please make sure to turn on the exhaust fan. The switch is located under the main light switch next to the door.

Please keep showers to a 5 minute maximum as we are running on rain water only and need to be mindful to conserve every drop.

Please watch the video below to find instructions on how to use the coffee machine.

To lift up Outdoor blinds you must push blinds down towards the ground first, then squeeze the latches together to release the lock and slide up.

Only the blind in front of the sliding door can be opened from the outside.

Note: If the winds are strong, do not move the blinds up and down as they might get stuck or damaged. Leave the blinds open or completely pulled down and lock in position to avoid any damages.

Try not to move blinds up or down during a strong wind as they might get stuck and damaged in there tracks half way down.

The patio heaters are there to heat up the space and are more efficient when all blinds are pulled down.

Please turn them off if you leave the premises at any time.

Our outdoor fireplace is there for you to enjoy during non-fire season. Please check Kangaroo Island’s fire danger season dates.

Please only use firewood provided and be mindful that it is not a bonfire. Only use enough timber to keep you warm.

There is a camera that monitors the grassed area in front of the tiny homes so please be respectful and responsible.

Dogs are permitted on request but it is your responsibility to see that they don’t stray and chase the wildlife.

Do not leave your dog unattended at the property at any time as the block is not completely fenced off.

Dogs are permitted to sleep under the patio, but not inside or on any beds or furniture. Failure to do so will result in additional cleaning fees.

Always clean up after your dogs before you check out. A pooper scooper is provided. Poos can be thrown into the yard at the back where the fence is opened.

In the shed you'll find some equipment for Water Sports. We ask that you please follow our instructions carefully so that everyone can enjoy them and have fun.
